Philips Norelco Electric Shaver 9700

Philips makes some of the world’s best personal care products, and this has translated well into a premium line of men’s electric shavers. The Philips Norelco 9700 has a rotary-style head in a dark black body and matching cleaning and charging station. At around $315, this is one of the most impressive cordless rotary-style shavers in the Philips Norelco line.

Philips has designed this shaver with a rotary style head that has three smaller blades located within it. Each of these three heads can move independently of the other, as well as moving in eight opposite directions. Philips has the promise that this shaver will be their best electric shaver by snip off twenty percent more hair than a shaver in one of their other lines.

The 9700 shaver has the benefit of being used wet or dry. If used dry, the blades are designed to feel smooth and comfortable as they move over the face. Inside, each of the blades has been honed to be razor sharp, enabling them to snip hair right down to the surface of the skin, but never cutting or scraping it.

When used wet, the shaver can be used over the sink, or in the shower or bath. A man can add shaving gels, foams, creams, lotions, and soap to his face, which will get the shaver even closer than shaving simply dry.

On the Philips Norelco 9700 are three different shaver settings. The slower shave is gentler, while the medium will shave most of a man’s whiskers away. The most powerful shave is suitable for men who have thicker, tougher hair, or for those who may be in a rush in the morning. It is good to have these choices that can be tailored to personal hair thickness and amount of growth on a man’s face.

On the bottom front of the 9700’s front is an LCD light indicator. This says how much of a battery charge is left in the shaver, and when it should be charged up again. Another level also indicates when it’s time to place the shaver into the cleaning and charging unit.

The cleaning and charging unit is a simpler way to provide maintenance to the 9700. The shaver is placed rotary head first into the cleaning unit. There is a button that will begin the cleaning stages, and then take the shaver through a lubrication process, before drying it, and charging it up. You’ll want to repeat this process once a week.

The Philips Norelco cleaning station takes replacement cartridges. These contain a cleaning solution made from alcohol, which has been known to sterilize and disinfect surfaces of most known pathogens.

Philips wishes to provide additional functionality to their Norelco 9700 with the addition of a cleaning brush. This gently works like a loofa to remove dead skin cells, to reveal glowing skin beneath.

There is also a SmartClick precision hair trimmer that can be used to trim side burns, mustache, and beard. This pushes back down after use.

Philips has spent a great deal of time perfecting their Philips Norelco 9700. This shaver won the 2015 IF Design Awards with their 9000 shaver, but it’s expected that this technology has been utilized in the new 9700 shaver as well.

Besides the shaver and cleaning station, there is a cleaning brush, cord, and a travel case included in the box.

The Philips Norelco 9700 is a great shaver for the man who prefers to buy premium-style types of products and is looking for a shaver that comes the advanced shaver technology that Philips is known for.

Driving Tesla Cars Into Long-Range Innovation

With all the chaos in the world today, there may come a time when we can’t rely on oil and gas. It may simply become too expensive for the average consumer. That’s where electric car innovation comes to the rescue. Almost every vehicle manufacturer today has their own version of the electric car, though many only offer hybrids—a combination of electric and gas. Tesla is one car manufacturer that focuses on attractive but functional electric cars.

Tesla believes that one day they can charge up a vehicle and have it last for an entire month’s driving. Right now the electric car is limited to driving within one’s hometown, for fear of running out of juice. There are many electric charging stations popping up around bigger cities, but that’s happening too slowly for the electric car enthusiast. One great Tesla model comes in bright red: the Tesla Model S. This is from their luxury line which costs over $70,000 and up to $100,000 depending on added features.

Nissan Leaf

Tesla has its R&D Labs where it’s developing new battery technology. Their car batteries must be rechargeable, and not lose power over time, which has plagued almost every device such as cellphones and computers, which require a whole new battery replacement every few years. Tesla certainly seems to be one car manufacturer on top of things.  Tesla is in competition with Nissan. Right now Nissan has its Leaf car. The Model S can drive out to a range of 265 miles, while the Leaf can make it to only 75 miles. while 265 is impressive, it raises concerns for drivers who may wish to go on cross-country journeys, but may be at wit’s end trying to figure out where to charge up their vehicles for the long trip home. Nissan does have an edge on the Model S though as its Leaf only costs $30,000 to $35,000, which is more in line with the average North American vehicle.

Tesla Model S

It’s Tesla’s goal to create a network of charging stations throughout the country. One half hour charge could give 200 miles of driving. Right now it can take an overnight charge to charge up a vehicle. Once again, taking your electric car across the country may prove difficult trying to find a spot where the property owner will not only allow you to plug in, but for several hours at a time. It’s definitely an advantage not to have to fill up at a gas station, nor to pay for escalating fuel costs. Right now charging stations only cost a few dollars. There’s also the additional benefit that electric vehicles emit no pollution. Electric motors utilize fewer parts too, and they’re more easily maintained. It will be exciting to see how electric car manufacturers cover the two major challenges today: cost and range. Once costs are brought down, more people will be willing to buy an electric car. And the more vehicles on the road, the more public charging stations there will be on offer.
